mboRijnland is a regional education centre with branches in Alphen aan den Rijn, Gouda, Leiden, Leidschendam-Voorburg, Woerden, and Zoetermeer. DsignMarking created the visual branding and design after winning a European tender. We were commissioned to create a design that would create a unifying brand experience. We ended up doing this by logically connecting the branding (visual identity) to the various disciplines, since this is what unites everyone in the company. The design stage needed to be followed by a smooth rollout.
We installed information panels to direct students and visitors to the appropriate programmes and sections of the building. The reception desk and information points feature the new branding colours, and changeable banners on Leiden Lammenschans section off parts of the building that are currently unused. We also encourage building users to take the stairs through the addition of lines on the floor, calorie counters in the stairwells, and motivational A0 posters. Besides promoting health and exercise among the student body, this has also given the stairwells a bright new look.
The best outcome of this operation might be the appreciation and compliments we received, mainly because students and staff now feel so much more at home in the new organisation: an all-new look that really feels inclusive to all.
